John D. Harrell Sr.After growing up in Charleston, John received a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of South Carolina prior to attending Georgetown University Law Center to earn his Juris Doctorate. Having completed his undergraduate studies, John founded and managed a government contracting firm, which he continued to run while attending Georgetown University. Upon his return to Charleston, John became an Associate Attorney with a well-established Charleston law firm, where he began his practice in insurance defense and construction litigation. Presently, John is the managing attorney at the Harrell Law Firm, PA, which he established in 2001. In addition to his vast legal experience, John served as a Commission Member on the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission from 2007-2014 and has been an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law since 2013. John has been named among U.S. News and World Report’s Best Lawyers in America for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Association for Justice, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
